Alcaraz leads a Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell-Conde de Godó Trophy with four ‘Top 10’ and guest Rafa Jódar

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, number one in the world, leads the registration list for the 73rd edition of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell-Trofeo Conde de Godó, an event that will be held between April 13 and 19 at the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 in Barcelona and that will feature four players from the ‘Top 10’, in addition to Madrid’s Rafa Jódar, who has received the first invitation.

This was announced this Monday during the presentation of the ATP 500 competition at the Palauet Albéniz, in which it was also revealed that this edition will feature the novelty of the Night Session, a night session with the most outstanding match on Thursday, April 16.

Alcaraz, who this 2026 has won the Australian Open and the ATP 500 in Doha, will be the main attraction of the Barcelona tournament, in which he will seek his third title after the victories in 2022 and 2023 and in which he will try to make up for after being a finalist in 2025, when he lost in the final match against the Dane Holger Rune.

In addition, there will be three other tennis players from the ‘Top 10’: the Italian Lorenzo Musetti -number five-, the Australian Alex de Miñaur -sixth- and the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime -eighth-. The 2024 champion, the Norwegian Casper Ruud, will also participate.

On the other hand, the tournament announced that the first invitation of this year will be for Rafa Jódar from Madrid, 19 years old and current number 109 in the world, described by the competition as “one of the most promising Spanish tennis players.”

The presentation was attended by the mayor of Barcelona, ​​Jaume Collboni; the president of RCTB-1899, Jordi Cambra; the CEO of the tournament, Xavier Pujol; the tournament’s sports director, Tommy Robredo; the president of Banco Sabadell, Josep Oliu; the publishing president of the Godó Group, Javier Godó, Count of Godó; and the Conseller d’Esports, Berni Álvarez. During the ceremony, the Fuera de Pista awards were also presented to this year’s winners, the Emilio Sánchez Vicario Foundation and Lis Arilla.

Robredo explained that “between Monday and Tuesday the entire first round will be played” and, therefore, “all the seeds will debut.” “This makes the week start with great intensity and maintains the adrenaline until the end. Furthermore, in the first rounds there can always be surprises, especially from the home players, who play with an extra dose of motivation,” he indicated.
