PSG: several weeks of absence for Bradley Barcola, victim of a “severe ligament sprain of the right ankle”

Big blow for Paris Saint-Germain. While the Parisians could count on an excellent Bradley Barcola for several weeks, the winger was seriously injured this Tuesday evening during the round of 16 second leg of the Champions League against Chelsea. Victim of a tackle from Joao Pedro, the former Lyonnais suffered from a “severe ligament sprain of the right ankle”, as PSG wrote in a press release. It will be unavailable for 3 to 4 weeks.

Author of a superb goal to widen the gap in London, Barcola suffered a big tackle in the 52nd minute as he tried to pass in front of his opponent to recover the ball. Visibly in pain, he remained on the ground for many minutes despite the care of the club’s doctors. Limping, he finally gave way seven minutes later to Désiré Doué.

After the match, the winger was seen wearing an orthopedic boot as he left Stamford Bridge, which did not bode well. The examinations confirmed this impression and therefore revealed this major sprain which will probably deprive him of the quarter-finals of the Champions League on April 7-8 and 14-15.

This injury is all the worse as Bradley Barcola has been in very good shape in recent weeks. While his finishing had been criticized for many months, the Parisian managed to score in five consecutive matches and in particular during the two matches against Chelsea on the European scene. Luis Enrique will have to count on Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to lead the offensive line, helped by Senny Mayulu, Gonçalo Ramos and Kang-in Lee.
