Swedish stars would not like to compete in the United States

Cross-country skiing the last race weekend of the world cup season will be skied this week in Lake Placid, USA.

The US attack on Iran and the internal unrest in the country have led to the fact that some of the top skiers find it uncomfortable to travel to the country.

Sweden’s multiple prize winner Jonna Sundling told SVT: llethat he would not like to compete in the United States.

“I’m going there with mixed feelings, definitely. I’m trying to focus on the fact that I’m going there to play sports and that we’re going to an area where it’s a little more peaceful. But I’m not excited at all.”

Johanna Hagström is on the same lines as Sundling.

“The world situation makes you think. But I trust our national team and the organizers of the World Cup, who say it’s safe to go there.”

Lake In Placid, there will be 10 km intermediate starts on Friday, sprints on Saturday and 20 km combined start races on Sunday.

American hero star Jessie Diggins ends his career at Lake Placid weekend. She has already secured the overall victory in the Women’s World Cup.
