FIFA has punished the Israel Football Association (IFA) for, among other things, violations of anti-discrimination rules. Among other things, the IFA must pay a fine of 150,000 Swiss francs (around 164,300 euros), as the world association announced. The starting point for the FIFA Disciplinary Committee’s investigation was a request from the Palestinian Football Association (PFA).
The committee found violations of Articles 13 (offensive behavior and violations of the principle of fairness) and Article 15 (discrimination and racist abuse) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
The Israeli association was also warned and must now display a large banner reading “Football unites the world – no to discrimination” at its next three home games in FIFA A competitions. In addition, further so-called preventive measures must be taken. The decision can be appealed to the FIFA Appeals Committee.
