England: Anyone who enters a stadium illegally will be punished

The riots in the London Arena during the European Championship final almost five years ago were one of the decisive factors for the new rules. Hundreds of people gained unauthorized access to the 2021 final between hosts England and Italy (2:3 nE), resulting in chaotic scenes.

To date, there have been no exact penalties for so-called “tailgating” (roughly: slipping through). The new law makes it illegal to knowingly attend or attempt to gain entry to a game using counterfeit tickets, IDs or accreditations.
