Own Kondi coach or resignation: ÖSV star Kriechmayr speaks plainly

Heard Vincent Kriechmayr or does he continue his career? That’s the one most important question in the Austrian ski team after this Olympic winter.

How much the ÖSV speed team depends on the 34-year-old Upper Austrian has been shown again this season: Without Kriechmayr, Austria is a no-man’s land when it comes to downhill skiing.

Clear condition

After his third place in the last downhill season in Kvitfjell, Vincent Kriechmayr explained his conditions for continuing his career.

“It all depends on one person,” said the veteran.

Kondi coach from Vonn

Vincent Kriechmayr wants Peter Meliessnig back in the team. The 2021 double world champion had worked with the Salzburg fitness coach for years. “He wasn’t that valued in the ski association,” says Kriechmayr.

Two years ago Meliessnig left the ÖSV and supported Lindsey Vonn in her sensational comeback.

Meliessnig has also worked with us in the past Anna Veith together, then later with Marcel Hirscher.

Vincent Kriechmayr has declared himself clearly. One can assume that the Austrian Ski Association will not deny its driving force the wish.

In the already bloated ÖSV apparatus, a coach should be more or less irrelevant.

As Vincent Kriechmayr said in the ORF interview: “I want to give 100 percent, I need him.”
