Ice hockey playoffs: 3:2 in Wolfsburg: Schwenningen reaches DEL quarterfinals

After a thriller against the Grizzlys Wolfsburg, the Schwenninger Wild Wings have reached the playoff quarter-finals of the German Ice Hockey League and will meet the main round winners Kölner Haie. In the decisive third game of the series, the Wild Wings won 3:2 (0:0, 2:0, 0:2, 1:0) against Lower Saxony after extra time.

In regular time, Benjamin Marshall (25th minute) and Alexander Karachun (27th) gave the guests a 2-0 lead. The Grizzlys equalized in the third half with two goals from Matthew White (44th/57th). Karachun again made the much-celebrated decision in the fifth minute of extra time.

From Wednesday the Wild Wings will continue in the best-of-seven mode in Cologne. For Schwenninger, it is the third quarter-final appearance in the club’s history after 1995 and 2024.
