Deseret News: Lauri Markkanen’s season is over

Utah Finnish jazz star Lauri Markkanen will not play again this season, estimates Deseret News.

Markkanen last played on February 23 and suffered a hip injury.

The length of his absence was initially announced as two weeks. Three weeks later, Utah announced that Markkanen’s situation would be reevaluated in a couple of weeks.

If the schedule is correct, then we would go to the beginning of April, and Utah would have only five regular season games left. The team does not make it to the playoffs.

According to DN, it is unlikely that Markkanen will return to the courts for the rest of the season after his five-week recovery period.

It was already clear that Walker Kessler, Jaren Jackson Jr and Jusuf Nurkic are out of Utah’s ranks for the rest of the season.

Markkanen28, has played 42 games this season. His scoring average is 26.7. On average, more than 34 minutes of playing time per match has been lost.
