Athletico provokes Coritiba after victory and end of unbeaten run

The victory of Athletico about the Coritiba by 2 a 0last Sunday, at Arena da Baixada, did not just represent three more points in the Brasileirão. The result put an end to an uncomfortable rival’s three-year unbeaten run in the Atletiba classic and opened space for a barrage of provocations from Hurricane.

After the final whistle, the atmosphere of rivalry took over, especially on social media. Athletico himself didn’t skimp on the jabs. In one of the posts, the club published an image of Coritiba players during the playing of the anthem, looking at the red and black fans, accompanied by the provocative caption: “Some win. Others just admire!”.

In another publication, shortly after confirming the victory, the tone followed the same line. “Victory for the biggest in the state. Everything is back to normal”, wrote the club.

On the field, the provocation also appeared. Scorer of the second goal of the match, Colombian Kevin Viveros celebrated irreverently, simulating that he was eating a coxinha.

The “coxinha”, in fact, has already become a recurring symbol in mockery of the classic, being frequently used by Athletico players and fans to provoke their rival. This time, it was no different: Viveros’ gesture further reinforced the atmosphere of mockery after the triumph. Former Furacão player, the folkloric Walter also provoked on his social networks, publishing a video highlighting that he “could eat two drumsticks”.

And the provocations didn’t stop there. In yet another publication, the red-black club released a montage with “Fura-Cão” in a market, with shelves and a cart full of glasses. In the caption, another hint at his rival: “He never won a cup”, returning a provocation made by Coxa after the victory in Paranaense this year.

With the end of the fast at Atletiba, Athletico surpassed its rival in the Brasileirão leaderboard. Furacão is now in sixth place, with 13 points. Coxa has the same score, but one position lower.

Athletico returns to the field next Sunday (29), at 6:30 pm, at Arena da Baixada, in a delayed game against Botafogo. Verdão’s next appointment will only be on the 1st, against Vasco, at Couto Pereira.
