Alcaraz eliminated in Miami, Sinner ‘sees’ number one: how does the ranking change?

The sensational Carlos Alcaraz’s elimination in Miami opens the way for Jannik Sinner. Today, Sunday 22 March, the Spanish tennis player was beaten by the American Sebastian Korda and abandoned the American Masters 1000 in the third round, granting the blue a great chance to close in the ranking and get closer to the first place occupied by Alcaraz. But How can the ATP ranking change after the Spaniard’s knockout?

Alcaraz arrived in Miami after being eliminated in the second round last year. The third round he won is therefore worth ‘only’ 40 points, thus making him rise to 13,590 in the ranking. The opportunity thrown away by the Spaniard, who could have increased his tally in view of the clay season, where he will defend as many as 4000, therefore becomes an opportunity for Sinner, who arrived in Florida, just as happened in Indian Wells, without points to defend having not been able to participate last year due to the suspension for the Clostebol case.

In the event of a final victory, Sinner, who is currently at 11,450 points, could reach 12,400, therefore ‘only’ 1190 points away from first place in the standings.
