Tiger Woods was arrested after a car accident

An initial breathalyzer test on Woods revealed no traces of alcohol, which is why investigators believe the impairment was due to drugs or medication, as announced at a press conference. The golfer was traveling at high speed before the accident. After the accident, Woods climbed out of the passenger door before police officers arrived. He and the driver of the other vehicle are believed to have escaped unscathed in the crash; no injuries were reported.

Multiple charges

Woods was charged with driving under the influence, criminal damage to property and refusing to submit to a lawful investigation. It was the second time that the American was charged with driving under the influence: he had already been arrested in Jupiter in 2017 and later pleaded guilty to reckless driving. Like many other golf stars, the 50-year-old lives in Jupiter Island.

Woods drove off the road in Los Angeles in February 2021, rolled over several times and suffered complicated fractures to his leg. He was in the hospital for three weeks and then, according to his own statements, in a hospital bed at his home in Florida for another three months. Since then, Woods had only played sporadically on the PGA Tour. Recently he had also struggled with serious back problems and an Achilles tendon injury. Participation in the US Masters in Augusta in April was considered unlikely, but Woods is said to have registered for the US Senior Open.
