Jonas Vingegaard wins the 6th stage of the Tour of Catalonia and gets closer to the final victory, Lenny Martinez 2nd

He stunned the competition. Already winner of the 5th stage of the Tour of Catalonia, Jonas Vingegaard won alone on Saturday during the 6th stage, at the summit of Queralt, to ensure, barring an accident, a final triumph on Sunday in Barcelona.

Like the day before in the queen stage of the Col de Pal, the Dane attacked on the last climb – two km from the goal this time – and finished detached.

Frenchman Lenny Martinez and German Florian Lipowitz finished ten seconds behind, securing second and third places on the podium in that order.

The big winner of the day is the Austrian Felix Gall. The Decathlon CMA CGM rider, second in the general classification at the start of the stage, lost his footing on the descent of the penultimate difficulty. Dropped by the group of leaders led by Remco Evenepoel, the Austrian gave up his place as runner-up to Lenny Martinez, 1′22 behind Vingegaard.

Victim of a heavy fall during the 5th stage when he was 2nd overall, the Briton Tom Pidcock did not start.
