Campidoglio gives the green light to the new 12,500-seat Central Court of the Foro Italico

The Board ofRome Capitalapproved the proposed resolution for thearchitectural and functional redevelopment dello “Central” stadium of the Foro Italico. The measure, which will have to be submitted for final approval by the Capitoline Assembly, gives the green light to the intervention ofregeneration of the plant in an urban planning variantunlocking a workstrategic e dall’alto public interestconcluding a design process started bySports and Health insieme a Ministry of Culture, Lazio region, Coniand Rome Capital.

The intervention involves increasing the number of seats up to12,500 seatsand an even higher overall capacity based on the various functions, the implementation offour panoramic terraceson the Tiber and the Park for a total of 2000m2, a glass diaphragm that interacts with the surrounding landscape and above all the installation of acoverage of 6,500 m2 fixed and 1,700 m2 mobilewhich will transform the plant into amultifunctional structure active all year round.

The approved redevelopment project pays particular attention toaccessibility: thanks tofour new panoramic elevatorsand metal stairwells, the access and exit routes will be quicker, safer and totally accessible to all visitors. The redevelopment plan also provides for a significant increase inparking spaceswith the creation of additional parking spaces, including a new level parking area between Viale dei Gladiatori and Via Roberto Morra. The interventions are part of a plan of “monumental and landscape arrangement” of the external spaces, aimed at harmonizing the “Central” with the rest of the complex.
