ÖFB newcomer Carney Chukwuemeka wants to learn German

After his successful start with Austria’s national football team Carney Chukwuemeka also shine on a linguistic level. He will return to Dortmund after his return start with German lessonssaid the offensive man who grew up in England after Tuesday’s 1-0 win against South Korea in Vienna. The comment from the ÖFB team boss Ralf RangnickChukwuemeka put it into perspective that BVB did not care about improving the 22-year-old’s German skills.

Chukwuemeka sang a song for the team

“The responsibility does not lie with the club, but with me. I have been in Dortmund for a year,” said the Vienna native. He sang his obligatory debut serenade before the ÖFB selection in English – “Close Friends” by Lil Baby. “The players liked it, they said I was pretty good,” Chukwuemeka said with a smile.

In the national team he feels “like a family”

The entire course with the ÖFB team went quite well for the former England youth team player, with his goal on his debut against Ghana being the highlight. “It was probably the best possible start you could ask for. I scored a goal, we won twice. The team has great quality, you feel like family,” explained Chukwuemeka.

The fact that he has to continue to wait for his first professional appearance over the full game distance does not worry the ÖFB “newcomer”. “It doesn’t bother me at all. There’s a lot of competition everywhere and I’ve always had injuries,” said Chukwuemeka.
