LaLiga denies that its anti-piracy systems have caused a personal tracking device to fail

LaLiga has assured that “there is no evidence” that its anti-piracy systems have caused a personal location device to fail, as reported on social networks by a user who was trying to find his father with dementia, and considers that the information “generates unjustified alarm.”

“In relation to the information published by ADSLZone, which links LaLiga’s anti-piracy systems with the alleged failure of a personal tracking device, LaLiga categorically denies said statement,” the employer’s association said in a statement.

According to the website specialized in technology, which echoed the statements of a person on the social network X, the blocks at the request of LaLiga affected an application used to locate people; Said user reported that he could not find his father with dementia, who was wearing a GPS device, due to problems opening the application, something that he claims happens “always on the weekend”, just “when there is the League.”

However, LaLiga assured that a relationship cannot be established between both events. “After the technical checks carried out, there is no evidence that the IP addresses associated with the aforementioned application have been blocked by LaLiga systems for activities related to the illegal distribution of content,” he stated.

“LaLiga’s anti-piracy mechanisms are directed exclusively against infrastructures that broadcast content illegally, through audited and focused technical procedures, without affecting legitimate services such as personal location or other ordinary uses of the Internet. The information disseminated lacks a proven technical basis and generates unjustified alarm among users, by establishing a relationship that has not been accredited at any time,” he continued.

Furthermore, LaLiga reiterated its “commitment to an effective fight against piracy, compatible with absolute respect for the correct functioning of legitimate digital services.”
