Cubarsí, after his expulsion against Atlético: “I assume responsibility for the result”

FC Barcelona centre-back Pau Cubarsí apologized after being sent off against Atlético de Madrid before half-time in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, assuming “responsibility for the result”, which was 0-2 against the Catalans.

“An action determines the match and the tie. That’s football and I assume responsibility for the result,” the defender wrote on his profile on the social network ‘Instagram’, after the 0-2 defeat against Atlético de Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals.

The center back was one of the protagonists of this first challenge of the tie, when in the 44th minute he knocked down the Argentine Giuliano Simeone when he was facing the goal defended by Joan García. The referee István Kovács sent him off after reviewing it in the VAR, pointing out a foul in which Julián Álvarez put Atlético ahead, who would end up winning the match 0-2 with one more player for the entire second half.

“There is still a way to go in this two-game tie, and we remain more united than ever: we are a family and we have always shown it,” Cubarsí defended in his message on social networks, where he assured that they will “never” lower their arms and face next Tuesday’s return “with effort and determination.”
