Alcaraz will make his debut this Tuesday at the Godó against a rival from the previous phase

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz will debut this Tuesday in the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell-Trofeo Conde de Godó, in the ATP 500 category and played on clay, against an opponent from the previous phase, according to the draw held this Saturday, and he would not meet the Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the other big favorite, until a hypothetical final.

The Murcian, champion on the Barcelona clay in 2022 and 2023, will start his journey in the tournament this Tuesday, and could face the Argentine Sebastián Báez or the Czech Tomas Machac.

Already in the quarterfinals, his hypothetical match would be the number 5 seed, the Russian Andrey Rublev, and in the semifinals the third favorite would appear, the Australian Alex de Miñaur, who would first have to beat the British Jack Draper. In the final, he would face the second seed, the Italian Lorenzo Musetti.

For his part, Rafa Jódar from Madrid, who a few days ago won his first ATP title in Marrakech (Morocco), will make his debut in Barcelona against Jaume Munar from the Balearic Islands. The 19-year-old player acted as an innocent hand in the draw. “It is my first year on the circuit, I wanted to thank Tommy -Robredo- for giving me this invitation to the final draw and being able to play the Conde de Godó Trophy for the first time,” he indicated.

The Spanish Martín Landaluce and the Swiss Stan Wawrinka have also received a wild card. On the other hand, Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, world number seven, and Norwegian Casper Ruud, 2024 champion, both suffering from physical problems, will not be in Barcelona next week.

At the bottom of the draw, Musetti will debut against Landaluce in the first round, and if he continues he will face Peruvian Ignacio Buse or Frenchman Corentin Moutet. In the quarterfinals, he could face the sixth seed, the Monegasque Valentin Vacherot, and in the semifinals, the Russian Karen Khachanov or the British Cameron Norrie.
