Paraná Federation officially champions tournament that ended in widespread fight

The Paraná Football Federation (FPF) made official, this Monday (13), the Trieste as champion of the 2025 Paraná Cup. The decision came after the Paraná Sports Justice Court (TJD-PR) concluded the trial and defined the Santa Felicidade club as champion of the Curitiba amateur football competition.

“The decision was taken after analyzing the events recorded in the decisive match, between Capão Raso and Triste, played in December last year, which ended up being interrupted during the penalty shootout due to a lack of safe conditions for the game to continue. Based on the referee reports and official documents sent after the match, the TJD-PR concluded the trial and made the result of the competition official”informs the FPF.

With the decision, Trieste won the Copa Paraná title for the 12th time and increased its advantage as the greatest champion of one of the main amateur football tournaments. Capão Raso wasted the chance to win the trophy in an unprecedented way.

Remember the confusion in the Paraná Cup final between Capão Raso and Trieste

With the ball rolling, Capão Raso and Trieste repeated the score from the first game and tied 1-1. After nine penalty kicks, the score read 3-2 for Capão Raso, when the game was interrupted. First, the athletes started by provocations. Among them, the insults evolved into physical aggression, with punches, kicks and flying.

Afterwards, some of the home club’s fans, who were in the stands, forced a gate and invaded the field. With the general confusion, some Trieste players jumped over the wall and went out of the stadium, others ran straight to the changing rooms. There were no police at the time of the fight.

Two Trieste players had to be taken to hospital – striker Bill, ex-Coritiba, and defender Jair. The two received medical attention and underwent a period of observation. Even so, the two are among the 18 players suspended by the TJD-PR.

“We are very sorry about what happened to Bill and Jair, and others who may have been hurt, but who were not exploited during the trial. The fact is that Bill also participated in the confusion and there is nothing in the process that he did not effectively participate in and only caught”, explained auditor William Pedroso da Rocha, during the first trial, in February.
