Venla Lehtonen’s clotting was startling on Friday.
Biathlon Finnish drama was experienced at the World Championships in Germany’s Oberhof on Friday, when Venla Lehtonen froze on the last hill and stopped the women’s sprint race. On Saturday Yle said that Lehtonen, 27, has left for Finland to undergo more detailed investigations. According to Yle, he is suspected of having cardiac arrhythmias.
Doctor of the Finnish biathlon team Katja Mjösund told Yle on Friday that Lehton had Corona at the beginning of January.
“Since then, he has been training normally and his health was good. The practice race on the spot went well and now I felt good in the race, until I suddenly got weak in the last lap. The situation is now under control,” Mjösund told Yle on Friday evening.
