Today is the 15th stage of the Giro d'Italia, the longest 222 km. up to Livigno

The 15th and longest stage of the Giro d’Italia, the Manerba del Garda-Livigno (Mottolino) of 222 kilometers, takes place today, Sunday. High mountain village with a passage and arrival above 2000 meters. You overcome 5 climbs with the only interval of Val Camonica whose ascent represents the only moment of “breathing”. You climb the Lodrino climb followed by the new Colle San Zeno, the descent of which is very long and demanding. We go up Val Camonica from Pisogne to Edolo to climb the Mortirolo from the Monno side and descend into Valtellina. Long climb up to the gates of Bormio with the short climb of the Motte and after Isolaccia Valdidentro climb to the Passo di Foscagno. A short descent follows, and the final climb consists of the Eira Pass at the top of which you follow a road (asphalted) that goes up the Mottolino slope. The gradient changes drastically 2 km from the finish line after the Eira Pass where the average gradient remains above 10% although the road has steep ramps interspersed with short less steep sections. In the last kilometer the climb has gradients of up to 19% followed by a brief easing of the gradient and a further “step” that leads to the finish line, therefore very suitable for the climbers in the group.
