Schnellinger, the hero of Italy-Germany 4-3, has died, he was 85 years old

Karl-Heinz Schnellinger, a rocky German defender, among the Azteca’s ‘heroes’ in the Italy-Germany 4-3 World Cup semi-final in 1970, has died at the age of 85 at the San Raffaele in Milan. Schnellinger also put his signature in that match, scoring the 1-1 goal at the end that forced the two national teams into extra time, at the same time handing them over to the legend of football for what was considered the match of the last century.

And there is a lot of Italy in Schnellinger’s career, who played for Mantua, Roma and Milan, where he remained continuously for nine seasons from 1965 to 1974, winning the Scudetto, the Champions Cup, the Intercontinental Cup, two Cup Winners’ Cups and three Italian cups. Schnellinger played 47 matches for the German national team, taking part in 4 World Cups, from 1958 to 1970.
