The new German champion lost in the final match of the Europa League to the Italian Atalanta with goals 0-3 on Wednesday in Dublin. The hero of the match had scored a hat trick Ademola Lookman.

Leverkusen had played the entire season without losing once. The team celebrated a historic Bundesliga title at the weekend, and on Wednesday the start of the game looked quite sticky.

Mistakes followed one another, and Atalanta dominated the beginning of the match to their heart’s content.

Leverkusen’s net was shaken for the first time in the 12th minute. Davide Zappacostan the cross pass flew through the penalty area, and Lookman stepped into the situation from behind. Leverkusen Exequiel Palacios was completely asleep in the situation and only woke up when Lookman slammed the ball into the net with his stick.

In the goal, the situation was watched helplessly by the player who had played the entire Europa League match Matej Kovar. Hradecky, who carried the responsibility in the league, watched the match from the bench.

The same man was there less than a quarter of an hour later. This time Lookman got the ball outside the penalty area, floated it Granit Xhakan between the legs and shot with power precisely at the base of the post.

In the second half, Leverkusen frantically sought to narrow down and were able to create a few chances, but no real top situations.

In the end, Lookman hammered the last nail in the coffin of the Germans, with a quarter of a quarter of the game time left. A quick step deflection dropped Jonathan Tah’n from the ride and a fiery left-footed shot sent the ball into the back corner.

Leverkusen will not have much time to recover from the disappointment, as they will face Cologne in the German Cup final on Saturday.
