Reports: Vincent Kompany to become new Bayern coach – Sport

FC Bayern Munich could now have apparently found what they were looking for in their months-long search for a coach. According to consistent media reports from England, the Belgian Vincent Kompany from Burnley FC is “close to” becoming Thomas Tuchel’s successor. This is reported by, among others Telegraph. Sea Guardian The talks are “already well advanced” and the transfer fee was already being negotiated on Wednesday: “It is hoped that the deal can be completed by the end of the week.”

Even according to Sky the deal is “continuing to take shape. The Munich team has reached a basic verbal agreement with the Belgian.” Kompany, 38, has been coach of Burnley FC since 2022. The former central defender of Hamburger SV was initially promoted with the club but was relegated again this season.

Bayern recently received a lot of rejections when looking for a successor to Tuchel. The Munich team had asked, among others, Leverkusen’s master coach Xabi Alonso, national coach Julian Nagelsmann and the Austrian national coach Ralf Rangnick. It was also not possible to keep Tuchel employed.

Kompany played as a defender in Hamburg from 2006 to 2008. After retiring from his hometown at RSC Anderlecht, he took over as coach at the club before moving to Burnley in England. On the island he was successful as a player for Manchester City and won the championship four times, and he played 89 international matches for the Belgian national team. Kompany still has a contract at Burnley until 2028.
