Reetta Hurske ran fourth in the Czech Republic.

Quick beeper Reetta Hurske ran into the final in the 100m hurdles in Ostrava, Czech Republic on Tuesday.

Hurske ran third in his heat with a time of 13.02 and that was enough for a place in the final. During the run there was a tailwind of +0.6 m/s.

There was already a lot of pressure in the opening heat, when three runners were under 13 seconds. The fastest of the preliminaries was 12.72 run by Poland Pia Skrzyszowska. Also Dutch Nadine Visser (12.79) and Switzerland Ditaji Kambundji (12.83) were under 13 seconds.

Hurske was the fifth fastest in the heats.

In the final race, Hurske improved his time and his ranking. Tampere was fourth with a time of 12.98. The headwind was 0.6 m/s.

The final race was won by Kambundi with a time of 12.68. Skrzyszowska (12.71) was second and Visser (12.86) third.

“The weather was not favorable this time, the track was wet and the evening was cool. The leg would have been good today, but it just didn’t go any harder. I don’t know what caused it, but this was a good finishing race before the European Championships,” Hurske said in the Sports Confederation’s press release.

The race in Ostrava was Hurskee’s last start before the European Championships in Rome.

Hurske ran under 13 seconds for the third time this season.

Hurske has run a season best 12.85 since the beginning of the season. His record and Finland’s record is 12.70.

Hurske is participating in the European Championships in Rome. The preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles will be run on Friday, June 7.

“The competitions have come at a close pace, there is no need for more. Now I’m starting to focus on the European Championships and I’m doing some finishing training. Then everything is done for Rome.”

A high jumper Heta Tuuri won the high jump competition in Pärnu, Estonia on Tuesday with a new record of 191. Tuuri jumped his record on his third attempt.
