The national jiu-jitsu team, sponsored by Mubadala Investment Company, concluded its participation in the Grand Prix Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Thailand yesterday, and succeeded in raising the country’s tally to 15 colorful medals in the championship competitions that were held over two days in the capital, Bangkok.

The UAE champions won 10 colorful medals on the second day, which was allocated to the men’s category, with 4 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze medals, where Khalid Al Balushi (under 62 kg), Mahdi Al Awlaki (under 77 kg), and Saeed Al Kubaisi (under 85 kg) were crowned with gold. ), and Omar Al Suwaidi (under 56 kg). The silver medals went to Mayed Al Shehhi (under 62 kg) and Rashid Al Shehhi (under 56 kg), while the bronze medals were won by Hazza Farhan (over 94 kg), Saeed Al Ketbi (under 56 kg), Sultan Al Hosani (under 77 kg), and Mohammed Al Suwaidi (under 77 kg). 69 kg).

Fahd Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, confirmed that participation in the tournament achieved all its goals, and that the team emerged with a number of important gains in terms of measuring the development index in the performance of male and female players before participating in the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Greece, and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Thailand.

In turn, Yasser Al Qubaisi, the National Jiu-Jitsu Team Administrator, pointed out the efficiency of the Federation’s plans and strategies in choosing to participate in tournaments that ensure benefiting from the best opportunities to interact with elite international players, stressing that the team’s participation in the Grand Prix Championship highlighted the superiority of our national team’s players and their ability to overcome all challenges and confirm their leadership in various events.

Khalid Al Balushi, who won the gold medal in the under 62kg weight class, said: “We are happy with our performance today and our success in reaching the podium despite the strong competition.
