Controversy over the 'Nazi' eagle, Spezia will change its logo

The Spezia will change the coat of arms after a year of controversy for thatstylized black eagle which according to many would recall Nazi symbols,The Ligurian Serie B club has launched a survey on his site asking for suggestions, then from 11 July ‘focus groups’ will start with fans and personalities from which two logo hypotheses will emerge, created by the Tub Design studio. The winning project will be confirmed by an online vote and the new logo will be adopted from the 2025/26 season.

Just a year ago Spezia had adopted the new logo with the letters Sc (Spezia Calcio) surmounted by the profile of an eagle. The fact that that eagle recalled Nazi iconography and that the black background prevailed over the white, the club’s official colour, made many fans turn up their noses. To the point that a campaign was launched on change.org to promote its elimination.
