Fernandinho asks for patience for Athletico to look for a new coach

Midfielder Fernandinho does not want agility in defining the Athletico to hire a new coach. After Cuca’s troubled exitthe 39-year-old player suggested calm when choosing a new commander.

“There’s no point in rushing to hire a coach who will have a positive result in the short term since Athletico, historically, has been a club that has always been concerned about the long term. It’s about being calm and patient”, he assessed.

After the defeat to Cruzeiro, the main name of the red and black squad said he was proud of the team. Fernandinho also guaranteed that the current group can deliver more.

“We don’t know whether Athletico will sign players or not, but the most important thing is that we play and train knowing that we have the ability to improve. At this moment it is very important that we stay together. This is how any family, club and institution can come out of a problem”, he pointed out.

Interim is defended by Fernandinho

Until they find a new coach, Athletico should continue under the command of Juca Antonello. At the club since 2023, he was coach of the under-20s and also had experience of managing, on an interim basis, Ceará.

Last year, he was an assistant to interim Wesley Carvalho after the departure of Luiz Felipe Scolari and Paulo Turra.

“We have a young coach, who has been working with us for some time. He was the assistant and today he is in charge of the team. He is a guy who knows football, he knows it. We are giving all the help. The most important thing is to stay together, the club have the calm to choose the right name, which will fit well within the institution”, said Fernandinho.

Without winning in four games, Athletico is preparing to face Vitória. The game of the 13th round of the Brasileirão is scheduled for Sunday (30), at 6:30 pm, at Barradão, in Salvador.
