Lamin Yamal may violate the “child labor” law in Germany

Spain risks violating German laws on “child labor” if its 16-year-old star, Lamine Yamal, plays in the full match against Albania in the 2024 European Cup.

German regulations prohibit under-18s from working after 20:00, but athletes can play until 23:00, including shower time and media duties. If Yamal plays the full match against Albania, it will be difficult to comply with the law and Spain may face a fine.

Lamine Yamal has been in impressive form since the start of the European Championship in Germany, against Croatia and Italy. The Spanish national team will face Albania on Monday evening at 8:00 PM German time.

The German newspaper Bild notes that “the law was put in place to prevent the exploitation of young people and protect their safety.” She explained that the Spanish Football Federation may face a fine of 30,000 euros if Yamal plays the full 90 minutes against Albania.
