Tennis player Eva Lys has qualified for the classic Wimbledon for the first time. The Hamburg native secured one of the last remaining places in the 128-strong main field on Thursday with a 4:6, 6:3, 6:4 win against the American Amanda Anisimova. This means that a total of six German players will take part in the oldest tennis tournament in the world this year. In addition to Lys, former Wimbledon champion Angelique Kerber (Kiel), 2022 semi-finalist Tatjana Maria (Bad Saulgau), Laura Siegemund (Metzingen), Tamara Korpatsch (Hamburg) and Jule Niemeier (Dortmund) are also eagerly awaiting the draw on Friday (11 a.m.). The matches at Church Road start on Monday. The singles winners of the 137th Championships will each collect almost 3.2 million euros.
