Verstappen, the future is no mystery: “I’m staying at Red Bull”

Max Verstappen will also remain at Red Bull in the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship. The Dutch driver, world champion and world champion, closes the case on the eve of the Australian GP weekend. “I don’t think F1 works like that, it’s not like you can suddenly say ‘goodbye guys’ and leave. I have a long contract and I’m happy with the team I’m in”, says Verstappen, extinguishing the rumors that, in the last months, they compared it in particular to Mercedes. The Silver Arrows must replace Lewis Hamilton, who is destined for Ferrari. However, Verstappen will not be the one to sit behind the wheel of Mercedes next season. The Dutchman is linked to Red Bull by a contract expiring in 2028 and the friction within the team, with tensions between the Austrian soul and team principal Chris Horner, will not be the cause of an early divorce.

“As said, we just need to focus on where we need to improve for next year’s car, so this I think clearly indicates where I will drive next year,” says Verstappen.

“I think I’ve already said it, but naturally people talk… The most important thing is to have a very competitive car for the future – continues the Dutch driver during the press conference -. At the moment we are all very close, but we are working as well as team to try to improve further. I have already talked about it with the team and we are working, we are also focusing on next year with the aim of being more competitive”.

Alpine-Gasly still together

In the paddock mosaic, a piece falls into place: Pierre Gasly has signed a multi-year extension with the Alpine team, the French team announced. “I really feel at home in this great team. I enjoy being an integral part of both the Formula 1 project and the broader vision of Alpine Cars,” says Gasly, who in a season and a half with the team scored 67 points, including third place in the 2023 Belgian GP Sprint and third in the Dutch Grand Prix in the same year. “I’ve been here officially for over 18 months and the plan has always been to build a long-term project with the team. Even though it’s been a challenging season on the track so far, I’m staying true to the project, not going anywhere,” he says .
