Rugby: pillar Cedate Gomes Sa leaves Racing 92 and signs for Lyon

The French international right pillar of Racing 92 Cedate Gomes Sa has signed up for two years with Lyon, the Lyon Top 14 rugby club announced on Friday. Aged 30, Cedate Gomes Sa, a native of Guinea-Bissau and naturalized French in 2018, had been playing for Racing 92 since 2011 where he was trained. Previously, he discovered rugby at Sporting Nazairien, where he played until he came of age.

Arriving in the capital at 18, the French international (10 caps) gradually established himself in the squad of Laurent Travers and Laurent Labit, who today moved to Stade Français. His performances even allowed him to participate in the European epics of the Ile-de-France club, notably playing in three Champions Cup finals (2016, 2018, 2020). He also won the French champion title in 2016, a year after achieving the same thing among the hopefuls.
