Julian Nagelsmann (national coach): “It was a bizarre game somehow. The first 25 minutes were our best of the tournament. Then we scored what I thought was a legitimate goal, and he whistled very pettily. The blocking happens at every corner. In England, where the referee is at home, he doesn’t whistle for it. In the end it was a game full of adversity. We fought well against the adversity.”

:Schlotterbeck, the most spectacular substitute defender
The defender poses a question of conscience for Nagelsmann. Leroy Sané exceeds every speed limit and Jamal Musiala doesn’t achieve much – but he does score the game-winning goal. The DFB eleven in individual criticism.
Nico Schlotterbeck: “We played a great game, we had crazy fans behind us again. The stadium was shaking. I know that from Dortmund, but not necessarily from the national team. I didn’t have the happiest performances at the DFB. I’m glad we kept a clean sheet. We triggered something in the country. We play with euphoria, we play with fun.”
David Raum: “It was a wild game: weather, VAR, penalties, lots of chances. It was interesting for the neutral spectator, but nerve-racking for the Germans. The joy prevails. The fans in the stadium and at home are happy too. The coach decides how he wants to play. I found out during the day and had hoped for it a little. Before the penalty, I think that was my cross too. Everyone is there with their heart – that’s what makes the tournament so special.”
Joshua Kimmich: “I don’t know if we should blow the whistle for the first goal. He whistled for my block. We know that we can beat anyone – but we can also be beaten. We’re on a good run. That gives us confidence. Today we had some very good substitutions again, which makes a good team. The fans were extremely there. It was by far the best atmosphere among the fans. They were present and hungry.”
