Adidas sells three times as many DFB jerseys as expected

The demand for the German national football team’s jerseys clearly exceeds the expectations of the manufacturer Adidas.

We will sell more than three times as many jerseys as originally calculated”Adidas spokesman Oliver Brüggen told the German Press Agency. However, he did not provide any concrete figures.

Pink jersey sold out in many places

The continued popularity of the jerseys is also noticeable in the shops. A look at the manufacturer’s online shop on Tuesday shows that the national team’s pink away jerseys are currently sold out. Currently only remaining sizes of the jerseys are available online, said Brüggen. However, the majority of DFB jerseys are still available in the sporting goods manufacturer’s stores and from its trading partners.

“In order to continue to meet the high demand, we are in daily contact with our partners regarding additional quantities of jerseys and will also produce more jerseys after the end of the tournament,” assured Brüggen.

The focus of selling the jerseys is on specialist retailers, who sell more than two thirds, said Brüggen. “By stocking up early, we were able to ensure that specialist retailers received significantly more goods than originally ordered,” said the spokesman.

Kroos and “Wusiala” most popular

The version with the number eight on the back of Champions League winner Toni Kroos is ordered particularly frequently, said Brüggen. But the names and numbers of the DFB duo “Wusiala”, i.e. Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, are also very popular.

Adidas recently announced that the national team’s pink away jersey had become a historic bestseller. The pink away jersey is the best-selling away jersey in the history of all DFB jerseysit was said.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s son also in pink

The pink and purple jersey is not only popular among German fans. The eldest son of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was photographed on his birthday in the coveted DFB away jersey.

Bayern President Herbert Hainer also approves of the pink DFB jersey. “I think that the German jerseys are pink at this tournament is a success, and not just from a fashion point of view: Germany is colorful – sport and a tournament like this can also convey that,” he said in an interview with the media group “Münchner Merkur/tz”.
