To face McGregor, Chandler even gives up a belt

Michael Chandler still hasn’t given up on the idea of facing Conor McGregor in the octagons of the UFC. To do this, he would even give up a lightweight title fight with Islam Makhachev.

After having his fight with the Irishman canceled at UFC 303, which took place last Saturday (29), the American revealed that he received a proposal to challenge the division title on October 26, at UFC 307, which will take place in Abu Dhabi.

Chandler, however, took advantage of the invitation to provoke McGregor once again through social media, challenging him to a new fight in September. According to the organization, Conor was unable to fight because of a toe injury.

“I was offered Islam Makhachev for October, but if McGregor’s little toe is ready in September, we’ll do it at the Sphere. The biggest event in the history of sports,” Michael wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) profile, directly mentioning Conor’s account.

On September 14, the UFC card will take place inside the Las Vegas Sphere for the first time; the event has even been given the special name “Noche UFC”, with Mexican references.

There is speculation that this will be UFC 306, but this has not yet been confirmed by the organization — as well as the fights on the main and preliminary cards.

Chandler vs. McGregor fight eases path for Charles do Bronx

With Michael Chandler turning down a title shot to face McGregor, the UFC will have to find another challenger for Makhachev’s title.

First in line was Arman Tsarukyan, but he is currently suspended from the sport for nine months for assaulting a fan before his UFC 303 fight, when he defeated Charles do Bronx.

The next name on the list would be that of the Brazilian, who is second in the lightweight rankings. Charles does not yet have any fights in negotiations, but he said he intends to return in August.
