Turkey rumbled about the investigation: “Unacceptable”

“It is unacceptable that Uefa has opened an investigation against Merih Demiral”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the bulletin it is stated.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs appeals to a report published in Germany in September 2023 regarding the controversial greeting.

“According to the report, the ‘wolf greeting’ is not necessarily connected to the extreme right, and the gesture is not banned in Germany. Under these circumstances, the reaction of the German authorities towards Demiral can be considered xenophobic.”

“We condemn the politically motivated reactions to the use of a historical and cultural symbol in a way that was not directed against anyone.”

Turkey will meet the Netherlands in the quarter-finals of the European Championships on Saturday at 10 p.m.
