Ons Jabeur dreams of a third consecutive Wimbledon final

Tunisian Ons Jabeur, ranked 10th, said she dreams of reaching the Wimbledon final for the third time in a row, adding that the way she deals with any negative feelings will be a major factor in reaching the title match.

Ons, who lost the 2022 final to Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina and the 2023 final to Czech Marketa Vondrousova, started her latest grasscourt Grand Slam with a strong 6-3 6-1 win over Japan’s Muyuka Uchijima.

“If I reach the final for the third year in a row, it would be a dream,” Ons, 29, said on Tuesday. “I believe I can do it. I have developed myself a lot and I hope to finally win this tournament.”

The Tunisian player said she must control her emotions on the court if she wants to win this year’s Wimbledon. “I always try to remind myself how connected I am to this place where I play so well… so I will enjoy every moment I spend here at Wimbledon and hopefully this year will be the year I win the title,” he added.

“For me, the most important thing is to know how to control my emotions, especially when I need to. Sometimes I try to be less hard on myself, because that’s not cool either,” she added.
