Cristiano Ronaldo Thinks About “Hearing” Portugal

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo addressed fans after Portugal’s European Championship exit in the quarter-finals against France, but did not comment on his international future. The 39-year-old striker from Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia wrote on social media: “We wanted more. We deserved more. For us. For each and every one of you. For Portugal. We are grateful for everything you have given us and for everything we have achieved so far. I am sure that this legacy will be honored and built upon on and off the pitch. Together.”

Portugal was eliminated 3-5 on penalties against France. The European Championship record player and goalscorer had already announced that he would not be taking part in the next European Championship in 2028 in Great Britain and Ireland.

It is unclear whether Ronaldo will continue until the next World Cup in two years. He himself disappeared without comment into the team bus after the France match.
