Pedri says goodbye to EURO with a sprained knee

Spain midfielder Pedri González suffered a sprained knee against Germany, confirmed on Saturday by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), which means he will be out for the Euro semi-final against France on Tuesday and for a hypothetical final.

“Following the tests carried out on international player Pedri González, the Canarian player has suffered a grade 2 internal lateral sprain in his left knee,” the RFEF reported in the medical report one day after the match against the host country.

Pedri had to be substituted after eight minutes of the quarter-final match against Germany, which took place at the MHPArena in Stuttgart. The FC Barcelona player was the victim of a hard challenge from Toni Kroos, after which he was unable to continue on the pitch.

The first diagnosis, during the match that Spain won 2-1, was that of a sprained knee that was confirmed this Saturday. “The footballer will remain with his teammates until the end of the current training camp, focused on the dispute of the Euro 2024,” added the Federation.
