Equestrian sport: After association deficit: Equestrian President Erbel resigns

Hans-Joachim Erbel has resigned as president of the German Equestrian Federation (FN). The association announced this after an extraordinary meeting. Previously, Erbel and FN financial curator Gerhard Ziegler had not been discharged from their duties by the association council. Both then announced their resignation.

The background to this is “a surprisingly negative development in the budget, which only became apparent in the spring shortly before the meetings,” as the FN announced. As a result, the deficit planned for 2023 was twice as high as originally planned. At the regular FN annual meeting in Dresden, the discharge of the presidium and the board had previously been postponed.

The retrospective budget for 2024, which according to the FN was “classified as plausible” by an independent auditing firm, has now been approved.
