VfB Stuttgart brings Demirovic from Augsburg

The transfer of Augsburg’s Ermedin Demirovic to Bundesliga rivals VfB Stuttgart is apparently complete. According to information from Sky on Saturday, the Bosnian national football striker is to move to the Champions League participant for Stuttgart’s record transfer fee of 21 million euros. Augsburg should also be able to earn a further 5 million through possible bonuses. The 26-year-old will receive a contract with VfB until 2028. The “Bild” newspaper reported that the VfB supervisory board had given the green light for the transfer. An official confirmation was not forthcoming.

Demirovic scored 15 goals and provided ten assists last season. At VfB, he could replace Serhou Guirassy, who is about to move to Borussia Dortmund. However, Guirassy’s planned transfer remains up in the air. According to information from the German Press Agency on Thursday, another medical examination of the 28-year-old striker is planned for the beginning of the coming weeks. Because the 18 million euro professional failed the medical check, the existing four-year contract has not been signed for the time being.

As video footage from the “Ruhr Nachrichten” showed, Guirassy made his way back to Stuttgart from Dortmund airport one day after failing his health check. The Bundesliga club did not provide any further details about the severity of his injury during the first team training session on Thursday.
