“We will play a different game in Valencia”

FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick is convinced that they will play “a different game” against Valencia at Mestalla on Saturday to that of Monday, when they lost to Monaco in the Joan Gamper Trophy (0-3), and he stressed that they did not apply “the pressure” that they “normally” do.

“I know how the team is capable of playing, we saw it in America. Today was not a good match against a good opponent, but in Valencia we will play differently and I am sure we will play a different match,” he said in statements to TV3 after the match. “We did not put the pressure that we normally do, we have to see why, it is our job. Today we saw what worked and what did not. We will analyse this match and I am sure that on Saturday we will do better,” he said.

Despite the result, the German coach stressed that during the first few minutes they were “good” and had “opportunities to score first.” “The speed and passing were not as good as in previous matches, we did not have the confidence we had on other days. Monaco improved, we tried to change things in the second half, but individual errors did not allow us to win,” he said.

On the other hand, he did not reveal whether Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres are ready to start in the first LaLiga EA Sports match against Valencia on Saturday at Mestalla. “We will see if those who played for the first time today are ready to start in Valencia. It was not an easy preseason, but it was not for all the teams,” he acknowledged, before assuring that Dani Olmo “can make the difference.”
