Football in Spain: Flick’s dress rehearsal: Barça loses 0:3

Hansi Flick and FC Barcelona botched the dress rehearsal before the start of the Spanish football league. With their German coach, the Catalans lost 0-3 (0-0) to AS Monaco in Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy. The goals for the club from the French league were scored by Lamine Camara (50th minute), former Bundesliga professional Breel Embolo (57th) and Christian Mawissa (86th).

While goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen was in the starting eleven, former national coach Flick brought on midfielder Ilkay Gündogan at half-time. However, the captain of the German national team had to leave the field in the 68th minute after a collision with a bleeding wound to the head.

The Joan Gamper Trophy is named after the founder of FC Barcelona and is awarded every year shortly before the start of the league. Flick’s team will start off by playing away against FC Valencia on Saturday evening at 9.30 p.m.
