Yle: Roger Talermo is dead

Roger Talermo died on August 7, Yle reports.

Finland former president of the Olympic Committee Roger Talermo is dead, reports Public radio.

Talermo was 68 years old when he died. He had mesothelioma, a rare cancer.

Talermo, born in Helsinki in 1955, served as chairman of the Finnish Olympic Committee in 2004–2012.

He also had a remarkable career in business life. Among other things, Talermo worked in the years 1996–2009 as CEO of Amer Sports Oyj.

In addition to domestic positions of trust, Talermo was a member, for example, of the FIS freestyle skiing committee of the International Skiing and Snowboarding Federation and the board of the World Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC).

At the grassroots level of sports, Talermo had enough coaching duties in swimming and alpine skiing. Those sports also belong to the selection of a versatile sportsman in his own competitive career along with numerous other sports.
