Stade Toulousain launches a kitty in support of Medhi Narjissi’s family

A week ago, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, we learned that rugby player Medhi Narjissi had disappeared at sea. The 17-year-old scrum-half was in South Africa with the French U18 team to participate in the International Series. Swept away by a wave, he has not yet been found, despite searches carried out by the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), among others.

Trained at SU Agen, he had been playing for two seasons at Stade Toulousain. Apart from a statement expressing its support for the family, no member of the club, in mourning, wished to speak in the days following this terrible tragedy.

This Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the Rouge et Noir, who collaborated with the French Rugby Federation and SA Rugby to facilitate the family’s arrival in South Africa, are launching an appeal to help the player’s family, including his father, the former Moroccan international hooker Djalil Narjissi.

“We wanted to set up a kitty to cover the expenses and needs that the family will have to assume to face this dramatic situation. Our club will be present, today and in the periods to come, to support the Narjissi family with all the kindness and solidarity that they will need. If you wish to join in, we thank you warmly for your support and generosity,” explained Stade Toulousain on social networks, where the initiative was welcomed by the club’s supporters and rugby fans.
