Al Qamzi drops to third in Formula 2 World Championship

Abu Dhabi Team star Rashid Al Qamzi, captain of Abu Dhabi 1 boat, finished fifth in the main race of the third round of the Formula 2 World Championship, which was held in Klaipeda, Lithuania, after a dramatic race and strong competition with 18 boats that participated in the competition, while Mansour Al Mansouri, captain of Abu Dhabi 36 boat, finished tenth, after starting from seventeenth place.

The Swedish Matilda Wimberg won the third round, while the French Peter Morin came in second place and the Lithuanian Edgras Ryabko came in third. Ryabko jumped in the overall standings to the top with 36 points, while Al Qamzi dropped to third place with 32 points, sharing the number of points with Matilda, who came in second.

The round had a dramatic start through the best time race, in which the Abu Dhabi boats failed to achieve good results, and it was an unsuccessful start in the third station. The Abu Dhabi team is looking forward to making up for it in the next round of the championship, which will be held on September 1 in Italy.

Strong competition
For his part, Nasser Al Dhaheri, head of the Abu Dhabi Powerboat Team mission, confirmed that the competition in the Lithuania round was strong due to the waves and the abnormal weather conditions, which contributed to some teams not performing at their best. He said: We still have a great opportunity to defend the title in the next round, and also with three full rounds of competition remaining.
