Operário beats Coritiba and wins the unprecedented title of the Paranaense Sub-20

Worker beat Coritiba, 1-0, this Sunday (25), at Vila Capanema, and won the Campeonato Paranaense Sub-20 title for the first time in its history.

In the first leg, Fantasma had already beaten Coxa 1-0 at Germano Krüger in Ponta Grossa. Therefore, they were playing for a draw in the return match in the capital.

At Vila, the score remained closed until the final moments, when Coritiba sent goalkeeper Roberto for a corner kick in the opponent’s area. Operário took advantage of the counterattack and, with the goal without a goalkeeper, Gustavo Siqueira hit from distance to score.

On the way to the final, in the knockout stage, the team from Ponta Grossa eliminated Londrina and Cascavel. Coxa had already beaten Patriotas and Azuriz. Athletico fell in the quarterfinals, precisely to Azuriz.

Ferroviário is led by coach Jorge Ferreira, who coached Paraná Clube in the 2022 Paranaense; and has one of the club’s idols on the coaching staff, former striker Thiago Schumacher.

Coxa was led by Guilherme Bossle, a coach who has played interim games for the professional team.
