Paralympic Games: “A very technical and strategic sport”… boccia has already found its audience

A furious cry in the silence of the Arena Paris Sud at Porte de Versailles, followed by a roar from the crowd. Thanks to a ball throw of formidable precision, the Tricolor Fayçal Meguenni managed to equalize (5-5) this Thursday in the boccia event against the Thai world number one Watcharaphon Vongsa.

Very close to the feat during the preliminary round of the Paris Paralympic Games, the player from Grande-Synthe (North) finally lost (6-5) during the golden round. The thousand or so spectators present in the Parisian stadium applauded the Frenchman at length despite his setback. “It’s an achievement, a dream to be here,” declared Fayçal Meguenni. I’m super happy with my level of play. It’s an honor and a source of pride to be part of the French team at the Paralympic Games. The public pushed me. I felt an extra strength.”
