Klose’s Nuremberg team suffers defeat against Magdeburg

Coach Miroslav Klose has suffered his first bitter home defeat in the 2nd Bundesliga with 1. FC Nuremberg. In a one-sided duel with two momentous decisions by the video referee, the Franconians deservedly lost 0:4 (0:1) to a savvy 1. FC Magdeburg after a disappointing performance.

Klose’s unimaginative team slipped to 13th place in the table with another four points, while the guests coached by Christian Titz temporarily climbed to third place in the relegation zone with eight points.

The deficit came out of nowhere. The dangerous Martijn Kaars robustly prevailed in a duel against Florian Flick, and Xavier Amaechi (24th) converted the cross pass with a follow-up shot against Nuremberg goalkeeper Jan Reichert, who reacted strongly once. The goal also withstood a review by the video referee.

Nuremberg’s Justvan is already waiting for the penalty

In the 38th minute, Cologne’s Keller was called upon again. Nuremberg’s Julian Justvan had already set up the ball for a penalty, but the video referee took back the alleged foul by Jean Hugonet on Lukas Schleimer. Livan Burcu (65th) then sealed Klose’s team’s second defeat of the season in front of 31,581 spectators. Alexander Nollenberger (84th) and Philipp Hercher (90th+2) scored the other goals.
