Eintracht sports director believes star striker can play for national team

Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting director Markus Krösche believes that striker Hugo Ekitiké will make the jump to the French national football team after his strong performance in the 3-1 win against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. “If he carries on like this, he certainly has a great chance,” said Krösche after the second Bundesliga matchday.

Ekitiké contributed a goal and an assist to the home win against Hoffenheim and was, alongside the outstanding Omar Marmoush, Eintracht’s most noticeable player.

Toppmöller: “It can continue like this”

Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller praised the attacking duo after the game against Hoffenheim. The tempo of the two was “very, very difficult to defend,” said the 43-year-old. “And yes, it can continue like this,” said Toppmöller about the two professionals.

Marmoush shone against TSG, as well as Ekitiké, with a goal and an assist. The 25-year-old Egyptian international’s stay with the Hesse team was only officially announced on Friday, shortly before the end of the transfer window.
