Cycling – Kämna comeback not foreseeable

Lennard Kämna may never ride for the top German cycling team Red Bull again. “Unfortunately, it’s taking longer than hoped, time is slowly running out. I can’t say if and when he’ll be able to start,” team boss Ralph Denk told the German Press Agency. It is difficult to make a prognosis. Kämna was hit by a car during training in Tenerife in April and sustained injuries to his upper body and lungs. In July, it was also announced that he would be leaving Red Bull at the end of the season. A little later, the Lidl-Trek team announced the Bremen native as a new addition. The 28-year-old was already back in training and had hoped to race in September. Denk had always stressed that he wanted to keep Kämna. After all, he had won a stage in the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia and the Tour of Spain in the Bavarian racing team’s jersey, among other things. He also finished ninth in the overall ranking at the 2023 Giro.
